We are honored to welcome Prof. Natalie G. Mueller from Washington University in St. Louis, as the first speaker in our NRP 84 Webinar Series. Prof. Mueller is a renowned paleoethnobotanist and archaeologist, specializing in the historical ecology of North America and the origins of agriculture, bringing a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the study of plant domestication and agrobiodiversity. Her groundbreaking work integrates morphometric, molecular, ecological and experimental data to explore how ancient societies shaped, and were shaped, by their agricultural practices.
Prof. Mueller’s research also delves into the social institutions surrounding food production and security, offering valuable insights into the long-term impacts of human-plant interactions. Her expertise will provide a compelling foundation for our series, bridging the past and present of plant breeding technologies and their broader implications for sustainability.
